AUC Press books now in the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization

Thanks to a partnership with Konouz Egypt Replica Treasures, AUC Press publications are now on display and available at the gift shop of Cairo’s National Museum of Egyptian Civilization (NMEC) in Fustat.

The selection of AUC Press books includes over 180 titles, ranging from an extensive choice of archaeology and ancient Egypt publications, Egypt guide and Middle East travel books, to Arabic fiction in translation and history.

The NMEC gift shop working hours are 9:00am to 5:00pm daily, and on Friday from 9:00am to 5:00pm and from 6:00pm to 9:00pm.

Konouz, which is managing the gift shop, is the first corporation in Egypt and the Middle East to specialize in manufacturing and replicating ancient Egyptian antiquities, in cooperation with Egypt’s Ministry of Antiquities. Each copy is an identical replica of the original antiquity and comes with a verification certificate issued by the Supreme Council of Antiquities.

The NMEC, located in the heart of Fustat, the ancient Islamic capital of Egypt, is the first museum in the Arab world focusing on the earliest civilization in history—the ancient Egyptian civilization. It exhibits several objects intended to educate the visitor about Egyptian civilization, moving from the predynastic and ancient Egyptian periods to Greco-Roman, Coptic, Islamic, and modern times.

In April, the NMEC opened its new Mummies Hall—its crown jewel—after twenty-two mummies—eighteen kings and four queens—were transported from the Egyptian Museum in Tahrir Square to the Fustat museum in Old Cairo, during the stunning historic live broadcast of the “The Pharaohs’ Golden Parade.” The most famous mummies now resting there are Hatshepsut, Thutmose III, and Seqenenre Taa II.
