Housing and urban development specialist David Sims, author of Egypt’s Desert Dreams: Development or Disaster? (AUC Press 2015) and Understanding Cairo: The Logic of a City Out of Control (AUC Press, 2012), will give a lecture about Egypt’s urban expansion policies, entitled ‘The Distorting Luxury of Infinite Space: Egypt’s new capital, new cities, and new industrial areas,’ on March 31 , in AUC Tahrir’s Oriental Hall. The Los Angeles Review of Books describes Sims as “one of Cairo’s sharpest observers.”
