The AUC Press participated this year in the 50th Cairo International Book Fair, which ran from January 23 to February 5. For this Golden Jubilee, the Fair was held at its new home, the Egypt International Exhibitions Center, in New Cairo.
“It was quite a challenge for us: a new venue, a different atmosphere, and an unfamiliar audience. There were a lot of unknowns. It was a totally new experiment,” said Sameh El Moghazy, AUC Press Assistant Sales Manager, who oversaw that management of the AUC Press Stand at the CIBF. “But the result was impressive. It was a very good Cairo Book Fair for us.”
With well over 3,000 titles and 10,000 books on display, including more than 50 new AUC Press titles, the Stand, located inside Hall 2, was one of the most popular in the whole exhibition and was busy on every day of the Fair.

“We were delighted to see hundreds of customers and visitors of different ages—children, young readers, senior citizens,” said El Moghazy. “We sold a lot of books—many new titles, but especially Hoopoe novels and the Naguib Mahfouz Centennial Library.”
