Aziz Mohammed
Aziz Mohammed is a Saudi literary author, born in Khobar City in 1987. His debut novel The Critical Case of a Man Called K was published in Arabic in 2017 and was shortlisted in 2018 for the International Prize for Arabic Fiction, known as the “Arabic Booker.” He was the youngest and the first debut author to be shortlisted in the history of this prestigious prize. He has since participated in cultural programs of literary festivals, book fairs, and cultural centers all around the Middle East as a literary author and cinema critic.The Critical Case of a Man Called K, translated into English by Humphrey Davies, will be published by Hoopoe Fiction (forthcoming, April 2021).
Mona Abaza
Mona Abaza was born in Egypt and obtained her PhD in 1990 in sociology from the University of Bielefeld, Germany. Currently, she is Professor of Sociology at the American University in Cairo. In 2014, she was a Research Fellow, at Morphomata Institute, Köln. From 2009 to 2011, she was a visiting Professor of Islamology the Department of Theology, at Lund University. She was also a visiting scholar in Singapore at the Institute for South East Asian Studies (ISEAS) from 1990-1992, in Kuala Lumpur from 1995-96, in Paris (EHESS) in 1994, in Berlin (Fellow at the Wissenschaftskolleg 1996-97), in Leiden (IIAS, 2002-2003), in Wassenaar (NIAS, 2006-2007) and Bellagio (Rockefeller Foundation 2005).
She is the author of The Cotton Plantation Remembered: An Egyptian Family Story (AUC Press, 2013) and Twentieth Century Egyptian Art: The Private Collection of Sherwet Shafei’ (AUC Press, 2011). Her latest book is Cairo Collage. Everyday Life Practices After the Event (Manchester University Press 2020).
George H. Lewis
He is an internationally acclaimed British-born painter, photographer, healer, lecturer, and artist. His paintings have been hung in museums and galleries around the world. Based in New York City, his studio work focuses on themes of nature, interfaith, trans-cultural connectivity, and the healing power of empathy.
The Boy and the Boy King (AUC Press, 2020) which he illustrated and co-wrote (with Arthur D. Lubow), is his first book to be published. It is the basis of a traveling exhibition entitled “May We All Grow Up to be Children.”
Lewis is the recipient of two BA degrees—in international politics from the University of Reading, England, and in history and philosophy from Padua University, Italy.

Bahia Shehab
She is a professor of the practice of design and founder of the graphic design program at the American University in Cairo. An artist, designer, and art historian, her work has received several international awards, including a TED Senior Fellowship, a Prince Claus Award, and the UNESCO-Sharjah Prize for Arab Culture.
Her publications include A Thousand Times NO: The Visual History of Lam-Alif (2010). She is the co-author of the new, best-selling book A History of Arab Graphic Design (AUC Press, 2020).
