AUC Press at the 2024 London Book Fair

The American University in Cairo Press participated in the 2024 London Book Fair, hosted at Kensington’s Olympia exhibition center from 12–14 March, and was represented through Ingram Academic & Professional.

Attending on behalf of the AUC Press were Veerle De Laet, AUC Press Executive Director; Nadia Naqib, AUC Press Director of Editorial Acquisitions; and Marwan Rashed, AUC Press International Rights Officer.

“Networking between publishers is vital for global publishing, and the London Book Fair offers a gateway to explore new opportunities and forge connections that transcend borders.,” said Veerle De Laet, AUC Press Executive Director.

“The London Book Fair is an invaluable opportunity for the Press to discuss projects and strategies with new and existing license partners and foreign rights agents and publishing partners, face to face. This year’s LBF felt livelier and busier than at any time since the pandemic.,” added Nadia Naqib, Director of Editorial Acquisitions.

The London Book Fair stands as a significant event in the global publishing industry, where professionals from the publishing industry gather to buy and sell foreign rights in upcoming works, as well as negotiate, promote, and secure the sale and distribution of content in print, audio, television, film, and digital media.

In addition to the hundreds of meetings that take place between editors, literary agents, publishers, and others, the fair also features dozens of panel discussions and talks on a wide range of subjects, including, this year, literary translation, academic publishing, and AI.  This year’s fair had over 1,000 exhibitors and close to 30,000 visitors.
