Another bookish Cairo International Book Fair

AUC Press participated in this year’s Cairo International Book Fair (January 26–February 7), which was held at the Egypt International Exhibition Center in New Cairo. The large selection of English-language books, together with competitive prices, special offers, discounts, and bargains attracted many visitors and customers to the AUC Press stand throughout the two-week fair.

We were particularly honored by the visit of AUC president Dr. Ahmad Dallal. “Dr. Dallal is the first AUC Press president to visit us at CIBF,” said Sameh El Moghazy, AUC Press assistant sales manager, who coordinated the visit and welcomed the president to the AUC Press Stand.

Also, on the occasion of Greece as Guest of Honor of the 2022 CIBF, Greek historian and AUC Press author Alexander Kitroeff was invited by the Hellenic Foundation for Culture to talk about his book The Greeks and the Making of Modern Egypt (AUC Press, 2019) to an enthusiastic audience of Greeks and Egyptians.

Other special visitors included Egyptian writer Hamdi Abu Golayyel, author of The Men Who Swallowed the Sun, translated by Humphrey Davies (Hoopoe, 2022), and Algerian writer and winner of the 2021 Naguib Mahfouz Medal for Literature, Ahmed Taibaoui, author of The Disappearance of Mr. Nobody, to be published by Hoopoe in English translation in 2023.
