April’s New Release for Arab American Heritage Month

Hoopoe is thrilled to publish The Jinn Daughter in April, during Arab American Heritage Month.

Aligning perfectly with Arab American Heritage Month, this occasion offers an ideal opportunity to spotlight Arab American culture and celebrate the diverse experiences and contributions of Arab Americans.

The Jinn Daughter is a stunning debut novel and an impressive feat of storytelling that pulls together mythology, magic, and ancient legend in the gripping story of a mother’s struggle to save her only daughter.

Rania Hanna, a Syrian-American writer and neuroscience doctoral student at George Mason University, wrote her debut novel “The Jinn Daughter” from her home in Northern Virginia.

Despite her medical background, her passion for storytelling stems from her upbringing and cultural background in Syria, where the tradition of oral folktales and folklore remains alive. Influenced by ancient Middle Eastern tales, The Jinn Daughter draws from the storytelling traditions of Rania’s homeland, adding depth and uniqueness to this novel.

If you’re drawn to Middle Eastern Folklore and fantasy, Jinns who tell stories, death as a character, and themes of family dynamics The Jinn Daughter promises an engaging read.

“Enchanting . . . spellbinding . . . readers will feel like they have stumbled upon an ancient text of legends and wisdom. . . .The fairytale-like and bizarre scenes elevate the story’s mystique and are reminiscent of a mature and Middle Eastern Grimm Brothers tale. Ultimately, The Jinn Daughter will leave all who have the privilege to read it in a spellbound and wistful state of reflection.”—Noshin Bokth, The New Arab

“Rania Hanna’s debut is a moving tale of mothers and daughters, magic and mysticism, love and death. The Jinn Daughter offers fresh storytelling, rich characters and food for thought.”—Ms. Magazine
