GREEN OPEN ACCESS POLICY

What is it about?


Green Open Access is repository-based Open Access. It is also known as ‘self-archiving.’ It means
that authors are allowed to deposit their work in the repository of their institution.

Conditions:


AUC Press allows for Green Open Access, but applies the following conditions:

  1. Monographs are excluded from this policy.
  2. Textbooks are excluded from this policy.
  3. Chapter authors are allowed to deposit in closed access the PDF of their contribution to
    an edited volume as published (i.e. the version of record, including copy editing and lay
    out) in the institutional repository of their university or research institute.
  4. AUC Press asks for an embargo period of 12 months which means that the content of
    the contribution should be made accessible no sooner than 12 months after the
    publication date, defined as: from the moment the book is available in all markets
    worldwide (NA, UK, EU, Egypt, ROW).

Instructions for chapter authors:


All deposits need to be accompanied by:
✓ a correct and complete bibliographic reference to the publication
✓ a proper copyright notice: © The American University in Cairo Press
✓ if possible: a hyperlink to the AUC Press website where the publication is to be
found

Inclusion in institutional repositories other than of the institution/university to which the author
is affiliated at the time of publication is subject to written permission from the AUC Press.
