Salima Ikram—The Explorers Club: 50 Fifty People Changing the World

In March 2022, the Explorers Club (EC50) announced the winners of its second annual Explorers Club 50: Fifty People Changing the World that the World Needs to Know About.

The EC50 was established to reflect the great diversity of individuals on the cutting edge of exploration, and to help amplify the voices of these trailblazers. Among them is Salima Ikram, “a leading Egyptologist and former director of the Animal Mummy Project.”

Ikram is the author of Death and Burial in Ancient Egypt (AUC Press, 2015), Ancient Egypt: An Introduction (AUC Press, 2011), and the editor of Divine Creatures: Animal Mummies in Ancient Egypt (AUC Press, 2015).

She will be giving a virtual talk on June 8 about death and burial in ancient Egypt, as part of AUC Press’s online talks celebrating the hundredth year anniversary of the tomb of Tutankhamun, the boy king. We will post more details about this exciting forthcoming event next month, on the AUC Press website and social media.
